I've had the chance of meeting great creatives here in DC. When I returned to the DMV after graduating college, I knew that I had to connect with other creatives, I needed to create new work.
I began to reaching out to the creatives in the area to find what I could get my hands in. From that, I got the opportunity to connect with some great people. A couple of them featured in my most recent project, #DCLatinCreatives created by Carla of Spicy Candy DC. #DCLatinCreatives. Its a project I've been working on thats about elevating creative women in the latin community here in D.C. but not just latin, ALL women! Since we have finally finished, Mariella of Splendor in Spanglish, put together a nice get together for all the participants.
We laughed over small snacks and shared how connected were are through our different cultures. Although I am not latin, my culture is influenced by the latin culture. My father, from Aruba, who's native tongue is a combination of portuguese, spanish, & dutch ( Papiamento ) and my mother, from Guyana, who's country who shares a border with Venezuela. As we shared our differences and similarities, I truly felt connected to these powerful women. The energy in the room was nothing short of amazing.
