Photo Shoot

Stay Flexible by NikkRich

Something I had to learn: keep things simple and build.

I took a break for two months, and focused on slowing down and figuring out what I wanted out of my everyday. Taking a break seriously helped me with damn near everything, mentally and physically! This didn't come easy though, it came with challenges in which I learned another lesson, be flexible. As we already know, things never go as planned. I knew this but still found myself fighting against the forces that are growth. Simple things such as my sleep schedule, answering e-mails quicker, and switching my work flow to be more efficient to make room for more work. Flexibility is a necessity during times of change, sometimes fighting back makes growth that much harder.

Another lesson: Don't fight change.

There is nothing like solely focusing on what you want and beginning to see things unfold.

The photo set below is an example of patience and creating work without pressure. I felt as though most of my concepts and ideas didn't come to fruition because I either did too much OR not enough. Disappointing. Mainly because I was racing against a clock that didn't exist anywhere but in my mind. I had to ask myself, who am I racing? why am I racing them? where are we going?  I'm not sure who said things had to be done by a certain age but as an artist, it can be detrimental to my creativity. Fuck a time clock .. and who ever invented it

Although I still have SO MUCH more work to do, I feel stronger mentally. Imagine what I could accomplish if I focused every two months for a year?!

Message!

Key to life: Stay flexible & slow down.

Product: Jewelry by NikkRich

Back like I never left! I felt inspired over the past couple of months to create something I haven't before. So! I decided to photograph Agamemnon's jewelry  in a different light *pun intended* .

Seriously though ... I truly love what I was able to create from drawing paper, a mirror, and a little sand!

Something sexy. Something dark.

Why do this? Perspective. I want to improve. I want to break the mold I've gotten so cozy being in. Creating by the words of Capa -

Bare Minimum by NikkRich

This wasn't even supposed to be. The concept that we started off with was completely different. Looking back now, I guess none of that matters now. The end result was probably better than what would have been, had it been. This group of ladies were amazing! We all put hard work and hours into this which I'm GRATEFUL for.

I submitted these images to two magazines and got declined from both. This isn't the first time. I was absolutely sure that I would get in this time seeing that this idea was something that came straight from feeling. When I got declined I thought I would be more down than I actually was. I realized I'm  actually not looking for magazine acceptance. I was already taking it back to the drawing board before the rejections and i'm very much in love with these images. The rejections did make me wonder, what IF I submitted them to 1 more magazine, maybe that would have been the magazine to accept them. I'll never know with this set, maybe with the next.

Endless selfies on set Part: II

These girls were troopers. We didn't finish till late in the night but the good vibes were flowing through the whole shoot. I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with.
